The spider steeped
in darkness creeped
beyond her veil of sight
It caught instead
her thought in web
so nightmares come this night
Within her dreams
of nightmare themes
an insect bound was she
Awake she shivered
her soul delivered
thus had the power he
When next they met
was she who crept
into his nightmare den
His web of lies
was his demise
she’d not get caught again
Thus unaware
that she would dare
to retrieve her stolen soul
Her newfound power
then made him cower
and she woke now once more whole
Corrupt with power
she’d simper then glower
spinning a web or three
Thus unaware
and with not a care
became the spider she
Nicely done 😌👌

Thanks for liking my poem the other day … I love this one on so many levels – the rhyme scheme, the care with syllables, the symbolism … really great.

This is an amazing poem, with role reserval between he and she, between spider weaver and the victim. Thanks for sharing!

Great meter and rhyme scheme. And the mystery of the spider woman is intriguing. I like her a lot!

Very good rhyme scheme here … and the victim, the prey, the weaver of webs…the spider that became the she … lots to ponder here. So glad you posted to dVerse. Hope you come back often….we have prompts on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. Might you also, next time, include a link to dVerse (http://dversepoets.com) so others might find us, post their poems, and also find your post listed there, which means you get additional readers as well! 🙂 (apologies if I’ve missed seeing the link — but I don’t think there’s one here?)
